Clinical Interests
I am passionate about working with children and their families, especially around themes of attachment, relationships, and resilience. Children are deeply shaped by the experiences around them, yet they also have an incredible capacity to heal when given the right support. I strive to provide a caring space for children working through transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other challenges that may hinder their ability to thrive.
Alongside my work with children, I also enjoy supporting Muslim women, teens, and adults. I find meaning in creating spaces where clients can explore challenges while honoring their values, identities, and cultural strengths.
My Decolonized/Anti-Oppressive Lens
I believe therapy should affirm and center the cultural and personal identities of every client. Having lived and worked in multiple countries, I value cultural humility and strive to create spaces where clients’ traditions, values, and community strengths guide the healing process. Rather than imposing outside frameworks, I aim to build on the resilience and wisdom families already hold.
What I Hope Clients Feel After Working With Me
I hope clients leave sessions feeling seen, understood, supported, safe, and valued—with a sense that therapy can be a place of healing and connection.
Why I Chose This Work
I have long been drawn to working with children and families. My experiences as a teacher and caregiver showed me how closely children’s well-being is tied to safe, nurturing relationships, and how play can be a powerful tool for expression and growth. I am also inspired by the long-term impact of early intervention: by helping children address challenges today, we can support healthier emotional lives well into adulthood.
What I Enjoy Outside of Work
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring good coffee, reading, and connecting with family and friends. I grew up in Norway, lived several years in Egypt, and have traveled widely in the Middle East—experiences that continue to shape my love for cultural learning and community.
My Favorite Quote
A Norwegian word that inspires me is koselig, which conveys a sense of cozy warmth, comfort, and belonging. This reflects the atmosphere I strive to create in therapy—a space where children and families feel safe, cared for, and understood.
