I’d love to tell you the story of The Luminous Mind.
​
In 2012, while living in Dubai, I sat on my sofa and daydreamed. I envisioned
a place that was bright and welcoming—so inviting that people passing by might
not know exactly what it was, but would feel drawn to it, sensing it as a place
of comfort and hope. I aspired for The Luminous Mind to be more than just a
clinic—a place that welcomed the fullness of individuals, celebrated their stories,
and dismantled the harm caused by experiences of oppression and neglect.

From that vision, The Luminous Mind was born. I registered the business and was
excited to move back home to Minnesota to begin.​ But despite my dreams, 2012 proved
not to be the right time, and my hopes were put on ice.​​
In 2016, I finally returned to the United States and began feverishly searching for a location to house The Luminous Mind, but again, the timing wasn’t right. In those early years, The Luminous Mind existed as the name under which I offered EMDR consultations and trainings—but my dream of a full clinic remained just that. Over time, I began to doubt whether it would ever become more.

Alas, in 2019, a cascade of events unfolded, signaling that it was finally time!
​
My dreams for The Luminous Mind were always aspirational and bigger than me. But when I opened the clinic, I started small. I planned to work as the only provider for a year or two. What unfolded, however, was something I cannot claim pride in—only lessons in humility, gratitude, and honor.
​
I was entrusted with The Luminous Mind, and I know that its light comes from beyond me. I’m simply its steward. No one at The Luminous Mind works for me—they work with me, for The Luminous Mind and The Luminous Mind works for community.
​
Whether you’ve come seeking healing, clarity, or simply a place to be seen and heard, know that you’re welcome. This place was born of prayer, longing, and love—a vision carried in the heart, but guided by that which is far greater. Come as you are, with all that you carry. May this be a place where your heart feels held, your story honored, and your spirit illuminated.
