My Decolonized/Anti-Oppressive Lens
I am continually assessing how my intersectional identity endows me with privilege, how that affects my work and my perspective, and how to promote equity where I can. I seek to listen actively and learn from people with marginalized identities and consider how different forces of oppression affect the person I am speaking with. Unpacking the brutal effects of capitalism, colonization, white supremacy, and patriarchy on my clients' lives is often a central pillar of my sessions.
I also find absolute joy in getting to learn more about people, our many cultures, ways of thinking, ways of solving problems, and ways of conceptualizing the world.
What I Hope Clients Feel After Working With Me
I hope clients feel deeply listened to and understood. I hope they can drop some of the tension in their bodies and come away with a new tool for coping with what their week throws their way. My clients tend to find a bit (or, often, a lot) of humor in our sessions.
Why I Chose This Work
I am a person whose mind is always moving, and the most interesting, multifaceted, and inexhaustible subjects I can ponder over are people. I always want to know more, understand better, and do what I can to improve what I can.
What I Enjoy Outside of Work
I am a parent, an avid podcast-listener, and outdoor-activity enthusiast. My sense of humor tends to be pretty wry, often punny, and a bit goofy. I enjoy fun facts, new foods, fandoms, and have been accused (accurately) of being an absolute nerd.
My Favorite Quote
"I have lived a thousand lives and I've loved a thousand loves. I've walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read." -George R. R. Martin
